Welcome to this week's version of DIVERSIFY YO' SWAG-- coming at you every third week as part ofMANSWERS.
Remember fellas, you can't be fresh if your gear is predictable. Check the tips and take notes-- but remember, you can't replicate style... you must create it.
This week's edition of diversify yo' swag takes the inevitable in to consideration-- temperatures are about to drop, my friends... it's time to bundle up. Sponsored (unofficially) by JCrew and Brooklyn Circus:
Sweaters:
Rock these:
Pictured: JCrew Lambswool Shawl Collar Cardigan (118$), JCrew Alpaca Shawl Collar Cardigan (118$), JCrew Lambswool Fair Isle (98$), Brooklyn Circus Shawl Collar Cardigan (240$)
In the sweater department, the plain crewneck is played out. The shawl-collar will put your swag on a whole 'nother level. Few men dare to rock this look, so stand out and be different. Rock it with a v-neck tee around the house or a casual button down out and about. Believe it or not, I'm feeling the Fair Isle look this season as well. Resembles something you might find in your Dad's closet, but it's a style worth re-exploring.
Hoodies and Coats:
Rock these:
Pictured: JCrew Wallace and Barnes Crestmoor Hood (168$), JCrew Halyard Stripe Half-Button Hood (69.50$), JCrew Bayswater Peacoat (235$), Brooklyn Circus Charlie Brown Varsity Jacket (490$), JCrew Wallace and Barnes Sawtooth Jacket (375$)
The key to diversifying your swag when it comes to outwear is keeping it simple and form-fitting. Gone are the days of the over-sized bubble Northfaces-- the closer to your body, the better you look and the warmer you'll stay.
The pea coat should be a staple in any guy's rotation. Look to varsity jackets for a change of pace, with Brooklyn Circus' offerings being pure fire. Lastly, you'll need a coat to get you through the snowy days. Remember-- keep it clean, simple, and make sure it fits.
Boots
Rock these:
Pictured: Redwing for JCrew Wabasha Boot (300$), Alden for JCrew plain-toe boot (475$), Quoddy Grizzly Custom Boot (480$), Air Force I Duckboot (165$)
Unfortunately, good boots come with a hefty price tag. They also diversify your swag in a big way. I'm not a fan of the bulky-toe Redwing style.. but if you can pull it off, more power to you. If you're big ballin', do yourself a favor and scoop a pair of Quoddy or Yueketen. Have some fun in the snow with the Air Force I Duckboots.
Until next time, my friends-- Stay fresh.
