We've all heard it before-- scent is the strongest scent tied to memory...and the great scientific minds among us can affirm it. Apparently, the nerve that detects scent and also the one that controls emotions are both housed in a section of the brain known as the hippocampus. Because of this,
scent is tied specifically to episodic memory. In plain language, this is why your girl remembers exactly how you smelled when you first kissed, or why she can't let go of that time you came home with someone else's perfume on. This is why you'll never forget the smell of sweet potatoes, turkey,
and stuffing at Thanksgiving dinner (I sure as hell don't), and why the slightest whiff of tequila takes some of us back to our first hangover. And that's real. All this is to say that smelling fresh has very real implications for fellas trying to leave a lasting impression on that special someone.
Believe it or not, there's an art to rocking a good scent. If mastered, women will leave you not only with compliments, but also an assurance that you will never be forgotten.
How 2 Wear:
- 3 sprays get you... heyyyyy... but for real, I go one to the neck (pulse side), one wrist, and one chest. Dab the wrists together and call it a day.
- Pick a scent for specific occasions. Every discerning dude should have a casual scent (something light), a scent to take your girl out, and something formal. A rotation/collection is nice to have, but let's be honest... we're not all ballin' like that.
- Throw away your dad's scents. Fahrenheit, Drakkar, Cool Water, Chrome, and yes... Aqua Di Gio. I don't care how many girls gave you compliments on Aqua Di Gio-- it's probably because her pops rocks it too!
- Be different. Let your scent be distinct.
