When you're off to work there are a few things you should keep in mind before you leave. You should not look like a large animal of prey, a Christmas ornament, or a comic book character when going to work. You are not going on a safari, you're not getting lit up in Rockefeller Center, and I'm sure you don't have x-ray vision (i.e. Clark Kent from SuperMan). So go get a button-down shirt, invest in a few pants or skirt suits, and add the classic Manolo Blahnik pump to your collection (closed-toe please!). A few classic and timeless pieces are all you need to be business chic!
Things to Avoid:
- Excessive animal print
- Glitter shoes
- Large or gaudy accessories
- Mini skirts or anything above the knee
- Large-framed, lens-less glasses
- Bold Makeup. Your makeup should be clean, natural, and kept to a minimum
What is professional? A black pencil skirt and a well-tailored blazer and classic slacks will get you the right kind of attention in the workplace...
NOT Professional...
Animal Print Do!! If you want to include animal print in your ensemble keep it simple and limit it to one classic piece like a scarf or a bangle.
Animal Print Don't! Do NOT cover yourself from head-to-toe in animal print, and do NOT mix prints!!
